our metals

What makes OXB sweatproof? Our jewelry is made with high quality, hypoallergenic, tarnish resistant metals that withstand everyday wear.  Our gold and silver will not fade, chip, rub off or turn you green.  For more details about our metals and recommend care, see below.

14k Gold Filled:

Gold filled is an actual layer of gold pressure bonded to a base metal.  We use 14k GF because it upholds its gold-qualities at a fraction of the cost of solid gold. Unlike gold plating, the gold will not rub off from everyday wear.  When properly cared for, your gold filled pieces will last 10+ years.

All gold components are also gold filled.

Sterling Silver:

Sterling silver is great for everyday wear and polishes easily. Unlike silver plating, the silver will not rub or wear off in time.

All silver components are also sterling silver

#sweatproof but not indestructible

It’s tough, but it’s still needs some TLC. Your OXB can withstand everyday wear and workouts, but to maintain initial shine here are a few tips:

To prolong the life of your jewelry limit exposure to chemicals, hot tubs, harsh environments as well as the following irritants:

  • Sunscreen
  • Hairspray
  • Nail polish remover
  • Perfume
  • Cleaning Products

Disclaimer: It's a beautiful thing that we are all unique, and sometimes our body chemistry effects which metals we are sensitive to.  Generally gold filled metals are a great option for wearers with metal sensitivities.  Although rare, some people may experience a reaction with their gold filled jewelry.  This is due to the composition of your body chemistry from varying hormone levels, medications, and sweat acidity.  We are always happy to answer questions about our metals.

Suggested day-to-day maintenance: Wipe your jewelry free of any oils, makeup or sweat produced throughout the day.

Deep cleaning: Fill a bowl with warm water and gentle soap, let it soak while you sing your favorite Britney Spears song, grab a soft toothbrush and give the necklace, including the chain, a scrub. Pat dry and let it dry completely before storing.

Storage: make sure to clasp it and store in a small airtight container
